Your next adventure starts in Carbon County Wyoming.  Discover the western frontier and explore crystal clear rivers and the healthy trout that swim in them.  Explore mountain trails for hiking, biking or snowmobiling.  Take up ATVing, climbing, bird-watching, hiking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, skiing, snowshoeing, biking, kayaking or just drive around to see the beautiful scenery where you can appreciate the fertile river valleys, exotic high desert or the serene mountains.

fly-fishing-north-platte-riverIf hunting or fishing is on your agenda, then Carbon County is the place to be.  We share our lands with elk, pronghorn antelope, moose, mule deer, black bear, mountain lions, big horn sheep, blue grouse and many more creatures such as coyotes, bobcats, red fox, beaver, rabbit, porcupine and the yellow-bellied marmot.

Fish the world famous Miracle Mile- an angler’s paradise on a stretch of the North Platte River known for producing trout the size of small pigs.  If you have a fly rod, this area and many more along the North Platte are why you come to Carbon County. Large Walleye are also a choice for the fisherman.

Explore more than 500 miles of snowmobile trails, where the western powder is measured in feet – not inches.  Discover Seminoe Reservoir and Sand Mountain to enjoy boating, camping, jet-skiing, hiking, fishing and some of the best ATVing the state has to offer.snowmobiling

nature-scene-by-golf-courselgIf you are a golfer, you have a choice of several golf courses to play.  The Rochelle Ranch Golf Course in Rawlins is a municipal 18-hole course with 7,925 yards of golf from the longest tee for a par of 72.  While playing you might have to wait on the pronghorn antelope to pass!  Featured yearly in Golf Digest as one of the top golf courses in America and at one time was ranked 29th of the nation’s  toughest golf courses.  The Sinclair 9-hole public Golf Course is a few miles north east of Sinclair with 2,860 yards of golf from the longest tee for a par of 36.  Saratoga Golf Course at the Saratoga Resort and Spa in Saratoga is a public 9-hole regulation length course-36 par/3,480 years/112 slope.  Saratoga is also the home of the famous Old Baldy Club, a prestigious 18 hole private golf course.  It is 72 par/7,163 yards/123 slope with a rating of 72.3.

The City of Rawlins Recreation Center is a busy place for all types of activities.  They have a weight room, indoor racquetball courts, basketball courts, an indoor shooting range, exercise equipment and various fitness classes.  There is an outdoor walking trail that meanders through Rawlins and they have one of the states best outdoor shooting ranges.

raftingIf you are a hiking or biking enthusiast, Rawlins has been designated as a gateway community on the Continental Divide Trail.  This national scenic trail extends 3,100 miles from Canada to Mexico and one of the greatest long distance trails in the world.  It is the highest, most challenging and most remote of the National Scenic Trails- from 4,000 to 14,000 feet.  Wyoming has the most diverse terrain and you can hike or bike through a large section of range-land in the middle of the state known as the Great Divide Basin.  Encampment, in the southern part of Carbon County located in the Sierra Madre range will soon be a designated gateway community, too.
